The Kind Clinic Team

Medical Director: Dr. Paul Reed, M.D.
Dr.Paul Reed, M.D. is a board certified Emergency Physician and military veteran; he is currently practicing in northern California and central Texas. He began his career in medicine as a combat medic in 173rd airborne bridge out of Vicenza Italy after enlistment in the Army he completed his undergraduate at University of Texas San Antonio and went on to study medicine at the Uniformed Service University of Edward Hebert School of Medicine. Dr. Reed was later commissioned as an officer in the Air Force and completed residency training at BAMC in San Antonio in 2016. Spending 7 years on active duty where he has seen action in Iraq , Afghanistan and Africa over the course of his military and medical career. Dr. Reed's time in service has profoundly shaped his approach to patient care, and dedication as a doctor which continues to resonate in his role as the acting Medical Director for Kind Clinic Physician Assistant Owned APC.

Alicia Conway PA-C, CEO & President,
Meet Alicia Conway, Physician Assistant, Army Veteran and co-founder of Kind Clinic Physician Assistant Owned APC. She is a dedicated and compassionate health care provider with a mission of enhancing primary care access to patients here in the Central Valley. She has a diverse background of experience across various medical disciplines including, infectious disease disease ( HIV and PrEP), Internal Medicine, and Emergency Medicine, Alicia is deeply committed to serving her community and making a meaningful impact on patients' lives through healthcare.
As a proud graduate of Samuel Merritt University, she remains actively involved with her alma mater and often appears as a guest lecture. By integrating education at our site we strive to inspire the next generation of health care professionals by providing exceptional care in our community. We believe medicine is best learned by imparting knowledge and inspiring future practitioners.
As a clinician she believes in effective communication where patients feel supported in their mental , physical, and emotional health creating a supportive dialogue for patients to actively engage in their healthcare, through education and joint decision making. Alicia's passion for medicine and patient care continues to drive her mission forward to improve health outcomes in her community.

Luis MERCADO, CFO, Co-Founder, PA-C
As the co-founder of Kind Clinic Physician Assistant Owned APC, Luis Mercado wanted to bring more accessible primary care to the central valley, ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their background or insurances, receive the highest standard of care.
Luis Mercado is a dedicated and compassionate healthcare provider with a rich background in various medical disciplines. A graduate of Samuel Merritt University, Class of 2018, Luis has developed expertise in emergency medicine, family medicine, infectious disease (HIV and PrEP), street medicine, and addiction medicine. His commitment to serving underprivileged communities is exemplified through his work with a non-profit primary care clinic, where he has made a significant impact on the lives of those who are often overlooked by traditional healthcare systems.
Luis honed his skills in procedures and wound care during his tenure in various medical settings, and his collaboration with Dr. Anthony Jones in the East Bay was instrumental in solidifying his passion for primary care. This experience fueled his dedication to addressing the complex needs of patients, particularly in the realms of HIV, mental health and addiction, areas where he has shown remarkable empathy and effectiveness.
In addition to his clinical work, Luis remains deeply involved in education, actively contributing to the development of future healthcare professionals at his alma mater, Samuel Merritt University. As a passionate educator, he regularly guest lectures on emergency medicine, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience with the next generation of medical practitioners. His commitment to teaching ensures that students are not only well-versed in the technical aspects of medicine but also in the compassionate care that is essential to patient-centered practice.
Luis is known for creating a safe and non-judgmental environment, both in his clinical practice and in his interactions with students. He fosters open communication, encouraging patients and learners alike to express their thoughts, feelings, and life choices without fear of judgment. This approach is central to his philosophy of care, allowing him to develop personalized and effective care plans that address the unique needs of each individual.

Edgar Mercado, Co-Founder, PA-C
As the co-founder of Kind Clinic Physician Assistant Owned APC, Edgar Mercado, is a dedicated Physician Assistant with 5 years of experience in family medicine and internal medicine. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Edgar is passionate about providing exceptional patient care, particularly in California's Central Valley. Edgar brings a compassionate approach to medicine, ensuring that each individual receives personalized care tailored to their unique needs and empowers patients in joint decision healthcare options. Edgar has a strong background in treating complex chronic diseases and is deeply committed to optimizing health outcomes. In his spare time he enjoys going to the gym, running, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
